Not long ago, I found myself trapped in a dark and merciless place. This place, my friends, is called Kansas. And I’m not even talking about the civilized part of Kansas, that is, Kansas City. Oh, no. This place was full of country folk and socks that only came in white.
Sickening, I know.
Anyway, to pass the time (and because I happened to be there anyway), I found myself wandering the aisles of Walgreens. There, I happened upon a magical acne treatment spot stick from Yes To Tomatoes . As it was under $10, I needed a distraction, and I really like roller sticks, I purchased it.
A better decision has never been made.
Ok - that’s probably not true, but I like it a lot.
It’s gentle, and uses salicylic acid, which I consider to be a proven winner in skincare, and tomatoes to clear up your skin. It’s 97% natural, and doesn’t contain parabens, pthaletes, or sls.
It’s not globby or noticeable, and the rolly ball feels real nice against your skin. Excellent.
I’ve been very loyal to my Origins ‘A Perfect World’ Moisturizer for quite some time now. It’s swell, but I’ve recently been made aware of a new moisturizer, and I can’t wait to try it.
This new kid on the block is called Josie Maran Protect, and from what I’m told it’s grand. It’s infused with argan oil, which famously softens both hair an skin, and is all the rage in the natural beauty circuit. What’s more, it also 40 SPF, which is perfect for pale little me during brutally bright spring and summer.
I’ve gotten good reviews of this new moisturizer from friends, however, (as always) I can’t promise that it’ll work wonders on your skin or mine. I’ll definitely be giving it a try, though.
I mentioned a few posts ago that my skin had been giving me trouble of lately. Well, somehow my mother must’ve known that, because she mailed me some Derma Klear vitamin supplements that’re supposed to be amazing for your skin. And let me tell you, they’re really something.
The same day that I took them my skin felt infinitely better. It felt smoother and more even, and even more moisturized. From what I can tell, this supplement is high in antioxidants which helps skin to fight stress and harmful exposure to the sun and chemicals, in turn giving it support to combat acne and aging.
It’s not going to be some magical acne banisher, but it might do the trick for my twenty-something friends who wake up wondering why they still have acne.
All I can say is that it’s working splendidly for me, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the stuff.
Best of all, it’s only $10, so it’s not going to be something you regret buying.
I’d recommend it.
While I quite enjoy that it’s finally getting warm out, my skin doesn’t seem to share in my enthusiasm for spring.
To be honest, I’m not sure why my skin hates me right now, but it’s being really rude. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by infrequent breakouts, because I’m shocked and appalled by the way my skin has been treating me for the past couple of days.
Because I’m impatient (and proactive, I like to think), I’d rather search for a product to correct my skin’s current state than wait for it to do it itself. Of course, I will have to be a bit patient, because I can’t magically clear up my skin, but I definitely think that Boscia’s Fresh Blotting Linens (in green tea, of course) will help.
Blotting linens or papers are a not-so-secret trick of the trade. They’re cheap (these specific linens are $10 for a pack of 100), extremely portable, and will help to keep skin looking shine free. Also, because they remove gross oil from your skin, I believe that they can help to prevent future breakouts. Given the change of climate, I think they’ll help regulate my skin until being hot is once again the norm.
I chose Boscia because they’re 100% natural, and don’t contain sulfates, parabens, or any unnecessary chemicals that can inadvertently harm your skin or the environment. Plus, I would imagine the green tea infusion would have a calming effect on angry skin, not to mention a pleasant aroma.
I know I’ll be grabbing a package of these the next time I’m at Sephora!
This morning I arose to a pleasant surprise; I had a bunch of new followers! So welcome, and I hope you enjoy learning about all the stuff I want.
I quite enjoy perusing the LUSH website. For those of you who aren’t familiar with LUSH, it’s worth checking out. All of their products are hand-made and eco-friendly, and many of them are vegan friendly as well! Not to mention the fact that they leave your skin/hair feeling amazing.
Some of their items can be a bit pricey, while others are pretty reasonable. I’ve found that with the pricier items, though, a little goes a long way.
Anyway, the item that I just discovered is called Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. I was immediately intrigued. Argan oil is so hot right now in hair products. It creates a silky smooth lustre that’s oh so nice to the touch, so why wouldn’t it be great for your skin as well?
You don’t use this stuff like regular lotion. Instead, you slather it all over your body after washing in the shower, and then rinse it off. The rose scented ointment is supposed to leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed. It costs $29.95, which is pretty standard for a moisturizing cream from LUSH. It might seem like a lot, but I had a pot of lotion the exact same size that lasted me 6 months, so I’m here to tell you that it ain’t half bad!
Hello lovelies, I hope you’re having a great Valentine’s Day so far! Sorry for being MIA all day again; work is a downright monster.
I thought I owed it to you to give you at least one post today, so before I embark on the surprise Valentine’s dinner extravaganza that my boyfriend refuses to tell me anything about, here I go!
In this post, we’re gonna keep it plain and simple. Everybody’s heard of or seen Lubriderm. It’s not exciting or thrilling in the least, but it is a good lotion. We’ll call it old faithful, because that’s pretty much what it is.
This unexciting, decently priced lotion has been around for years, and works pretty damn well. I’m not saying you can’t get better lotions; you can, but if you want something that works well and isn’t going to cost you a fortune, you might as well get yourself some Lubriderm.
It’s unscented, so you can wear whatever perfume you’d like without worrying about the smells clashing. OR, you can add a few drops of your favorite perfume or essential oil to the Lubriderm, mix well, and BAM, beautifully scented lotion on the cheap.
Sorry this wasn’t the most thrilling post. I guess I’ve just been too consumed with candy and love to dig around for incredible products today. I’ll get back to the grind tomorrow, though!
Usually I try to stay away from products that are, for lack of a better word, absurdly expensive. I’m afraid that if I ever get one, I’ll be hooked for life and end up living in a box somewhere because I drained my bank account in order to keep up appearances. Because I mean, really, they must be good.
Well, today my food friend and fellow blogger, Lazy But Sexy requested that I write a post about the Clarisonic Mia, so I’m stepping outside of my little poverty box in order to do so.
The Clarisonic Mia is a cleansing system that utilizes brushes, electricity, and something called a micro massage to clean your face better than ever before. In other words, it’s fancy.
It actually looks really awesome (and damn you, all of a sudden I want one)!
Supposedly, this tiny gadget cleans your face 6x better than your hands are able to. Its gentle touch preps your skin for better absorption of products (creams, moisturizers, etc.), and you can use it twice a day.
Ok, I want.
