Usually during this time of year we’re busy trying to incorporate a splash of color into our dreary wardrobes. If you know me, though, you’re well aware of my attraction to classy things. And there’s nothing classier than black.
Now I have no intention of looking like I’m headed to a funeral every day, especially during the spring and summer months. In fact, my closet may very well contain more colorful articles than necessary. That said, I do think that a touch of black can add a world of class to a potentially tacky ensemble. Take this Crossed Out Crop Top, for example. Crop tops aren’t always the most flattering items. They’re also typically not very mature looking. This one, however, is different. The black makes it looks infinitely more mature, and it’s a tight fitting top as opposed to a cut off t-shirt, which should make it appear to be more flattering. It’d look great with a colorful skirt, a wacky pair of shorts, or even some intense high-waisted pants. And despite its extreme back and its length, it doesn’t look tacky or slutty, but rather, quite lovely. It’s a versatile item that can be bought for $30 (NastyGal, people!), and enables you to have a sense of class while still dressing for the season.
Also on NastyGal, was this black and white leopard print romper. I love a good romper when it’s hot out. I can still do whatever activities I want (kicking things, swinging on vines, y’know, the usual), while dressing for the heat and looking fancy! Of course, you have to be careful with rompers, because some of them are downright horrid, but fortunately, this is one of the good ones. It’s youthful looking, with a super flattering cut, and a classic pattern. If it weren’t $90, I’d buy it right now!
